The Minnesota Twins battered the Detroit Tigers today 9-2. What began as the expected pitching duel between the Twin's Camilo Pascual and Detroit's Jim Bunning fell apart for the Tigers in the 4th inning. Minnesota put 3 runs on the scoreboard in the 4th and added 4 more in the 6th, chasing Bunning from the hill. Bob Allison hit 2 homeruns and Harmon Killebrew added 1 of his own to pace the Twin's 17 hit attack. Pascual went the distance for his 7th Win of the season, allowing only 6 hits and striking out 8. The few bright spots for the hometown Tiger fans came in the 7th inning when Dick McAuliffe hit an inside the park homerun and in the 9th when Norm Cash belted one into the upperdeck in rightfield.
With the victory the Twins moved past the Tigers into 1st place in the AL. For Detroit the loss was their 4th in a row, their longest losing streak of the season.
