1962 AL Game: Bsn. @ Det. Clinton Hits for the Cycle

May 12, 1962

Boston outfielder Lou Clinton hit for the cycle today as the Red Sox pounded the Detroit Tigers 13-4.  Clinton has gotten off to a slow start this season and was very happy to have such a productive day. "It's been a rough go so far this year, but today just may have gotten that monkey off my back" said Clinton after the game. Boston scored 5 runs in the 1st inning and never had to look back as they battered 4 Tiger pitchers for 15 hits.

at Tiger Stadium where the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers by the
score of 13 to 4.

Clinton had a big day at the plate. He tripled bringing in a run in the 1st
inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 2nd inning, doubled in the 5th inning
and stroked a base-hit in the 7th inning. Boston banged out 15 hits on the

Conley(1-3), allowing 4 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Don

I'm glad he's on my team.'
