1962 AL Game: Det. @ Clv.

May 18, 1962

My Detroit Tigers lost their 5th game in a row tonight in Cleveland. The Tigers jumped on Indian starter Dick Donovan for 2 runs in the 1st inning and added a run in the 6th but Paul Foytack and the Tiger bullpen couldn't hold on to the lead, eventually losing the game 4-3. Donovan went the distance for Cleveland in gaining his 5th Win of the season. It's the longest losing streak of the year for Detroit. The 1st place Minnesota Twins also lost last night to New York 6-0, so the 2nd place Tigers didn't lose any ground to the Twins. Detroit still trails Minnesota by 1 game.

Dick Donovan went the distance at Municipal Stadium as the Cleveland Indians
beat the Detroit Tigers 4 to 3.

Donovan(5-3) earned his pay with a solid performance for Cleveland. He went 9
innings and surrended up 9 hits and 2 walks seeing his ERA drop from 4.25 to
3.90. Detroit threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Hank Aguirre(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'Just one or two mistakes
were all it took to beat us tonight' Bob Scheffing said. 'We take these
games one day at a time, but this one was hard to take.'
