August 1, 1962
These are the League Leaders in the AL as of August 1st. Boston's Pete Runnels still leads in the batting title race with a .349 BA. He's been flip flopping with Baltimore's Brooks Robinson who now stands at .341 BA. LA's Leon Wagner (37 HR, 89 RBI) and Minnesota's Harmon Killebrew (35 HR, 103 RBI) are the top sluggers in the AL. Two of my Detroit Tigers are also in the mix. Rocky Colavito (27 HR, 91 RBI) and Norm Cash (31 HR, 72 RBI) have been having excellent seasons and are the main reason the Tigers hold 1st place in the league. Minnesota's Camilo Pascual (17 Wins, 2.85 ERA, 159 K's) is still the top pitcher in the league, but New York's Ralph Terry (16 Wins, 2.50 ERA, 124 K's) is gaining ground on him.
