1962 AL Game: LA @ Det. The Tigers Win the Pennant!

 September 25th, 1962

  The Detroit Tigers have won the AL Pennant! Detroit battled back twice against the LA Angels before coming out victorious 5-4. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the 5th to tie the game up at 2, then had to come back again in the bottom of the 7th trailing 4-2. Rocky Colavito came through with a bases clearing double to score the needed runs to win the game. Ron Nischwitz (7th Win) and Terry Fox (28th Save) shut down the Angels the last 3 innings for the victory.

43,091 fans watched an exciting game at Tiger Stadium.  The potent Detroit
Tigers topped the Los Angeles Angels by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
 
Detroit brought 3 runs across the plate in the 7th inning when they came up
with 3 base hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Rocky Colavito who
made the crowd happy when he doubled with all three baserunners touching
home.  Los Angeles tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
Ron Nischwitz(7-3) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Nischwitz got help from Terry Fox who was credited with his 28th
save.  Don Lee(12-15) was charged with the loss.
