1962 NL Game: Cin. @ Hou.

May 23, 1962

Cincinnati's Bob Purkey's (9-1) first Loss of the 1962 season was a tough one to take. The Houston Colt 45's scored a run in the bottom of the 9th inning to win the tight contest 1-0. Purkey had been unbeatable until tonight and seemed to deserve a better fate after throwing an excellent ballgame. The Red's batters gave no support to their pitcher but credit has to be given to the Colt 45's Ken Johnson and Bobby Tiefenauer who teamed up for the victory.
