Frank Howard blasted a grand slam as the Los Angeles Dodgers outscored the
Pittsburgh Pirates 16 to 10.

Howard enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He cleared the bases with a Grand
Slam homerun in the 1st inning, tripled bringing in two baserunners in the
8th inning and doubled scoring two baserunners in the 9th inning. Los
Angeles provided plenty of action in the 1st inning which saw them score 5
runs on 4 hits. The Los Angeles offense man-handled the Pittsburgh pitching
staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

The win was credited to Stan Williams(6-12) who went 5 innings allowing 8
runs. Williams was helped out by Ron Perranoski who recorded his 8th save.
Joe Gibbon(4-2) was given the loss. He gave up 3 hits and 2 walks without
retiring a batter.
