1962 AL Standings and League Leaders

   We're heading into the final month of the regular season in the AL. My Detroit Tigers are not faltering in their quest for the Pennant. Detroit was 20-13 in August. Only the New York Yankees kept pace with the Tigers going 21-14, but they're 9.5 games behind. The 2nd place Minnesota Twins are 7.5 games back now and the 3rd place Washington Senators are 9 back.  

  There's a good battle going on for top BA in the league and a good race for top Home Run hitter too. Boston's Pete Runnels and Baltimore's Brooks Robinson are both still at the top, as they have been most of the year with a .337 BA. Minnesota's Rich Rollins has joined the duo, hitting a solid .332. Twin's Harmon Killabrew leads in HR with 43, but LA's Leon Wagner (42) and Detroit's Norm Cash (40) are right behind him. Killabrew also leads in RBI with 130, and he is being chased by the Tiger's Rocky Colavito (122). There are still no 20 Game Winners in the AL. New York's Ralph Terry is tops in that category with 19.
