1962 AL Game: Det. @ Min.

 July 23, 1962

Al Kaline returned to the lineup for Detroit after a long absence, but he alone wasn't enough to help the Tigers to victory as the Minnesota Twins won the game 6-3. Kaline has missed almost 2 months of the season after breaking his collarbone at the end of May. He went 1 for 4 tonight with a 2-run homer, but Minnesota's Harmon Killebrew hit 2 homers and had 3 RBI to lead the Twins to victory. Detroit is playing a 3 game series against the 2nd place Twins and with the Win in the opening contest, Minnesota now trails the Tigers by only 1.5 games. Minnesota is 4-2 vs. Detroit this season.
