1962 AL Games and Standings

July 6, 1962

My Detroit Tigers have pulled within 1 game of the league leading Minnesota Twins after a dramatic come from behind 7-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles tonight. The Tigers led early earlier in the game but the Orioles battled back to take a 6-4 lead in the 7th inning. Detroit tied it up in the bottom of the 8th before Norm Cash homered in the bottom of the 9th to win the game in dramatic fashion.
The New York Yankees defeated the Twins 2-1 in a great pitching duel between Ralph Terry and Camilo Pascual. Minnesota is in the midst of their worst stretch this season going 2-8 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the red hot Washington Senators beat the Kansas City Athletics 2-1 in another good pitching battle. It was their 9th win in the last 10 games and moved them within 6 games of the league leaders.
