The St. Louis Cardinals pounded the New York Mets today 21-3. The Cardinals tied, or came up just short, of many of this 1962 season's high records set this year in the NL. The 21 runs scored tied for Most in the Season by One Team. Curt Flood's 6 RBI was 1 short of Most RBI in One Game. Ken Boyer's 5 hits tied for Most Hits in 1 Game. Boyer also had 5 RBI in the game. The team total of 22 hits was just 1 short of Most Hits in a Game by One Team. All in all, the Cardinals put on quite the hitting display in the game today.

Bob Gibson tossed a complete game and Curt Flood had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the
St. Louis Cardinals ballclub embarrassed the New York Mets by the count of 21
to 3.
Flood enjoyed a great day at the plate. He stroked a base-hit in the 3rd
inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning, smashed a two-run
homer in the 5th inning and lined a one-base hit plating two runs in the 6th
inning. St. Louis provided plenty of action in the 5th inning which saw them
score 8 runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning when they had 5 runs on 3 hits.
St. Louis kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6
different innings.
The winning pitcher was Gibson(11-10) who allowed 3 runs for the game. The
losing pitcher was Al Jackson(11-8). He gave up 6 runs in 4 innings of work.
