We're heading into the month of June in the 1962 NL season. There's a terrific battle going on for the top spot in the league. 7 teams are in the thick of it and that number would be 8 if the Milwaukee Brewers hadn't gone on a bad run (2-8) their last 10 games. The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants are tied for 1st right now. Cincinnati had a league best record of 18-7 in May. Both the Reds and the Giants have identical Runs/Agnst Differentials of 41. But LA, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and St. Louis have all shown that they too are in the Pennant race for the long haul. St. Louis has been the top offensive team (.302 BA, 258 RS) in the NL. The Los Angeles Dodgers are tops in pitching (3.37, ERA, 196 RA, 4 R/G) but Pittsburgh is right up there with LA (3.41 ERA, 180 RA, 4.09 R/G).
