1962 MLB Opening Day Preview

April 2, 1962

  MLB is scheduled to open the 1962 season in a few days. The Cincinnati Reds will be hosting the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL Opener. Cincinnati was last year's NL Champion. Philadelphia finished in last place. Art Mahaffey will start for Philadelphia, Joey Jay will start for the Reds.
  The Washington Senators will host the Detroit Tigers at the new D.C. Stadium in the AL Opener. Detroit finished in 2nd place last year with 101 Wins. Washington finished in last place. Don Mossi starts for Detroit, Bennie Daniels for Washington. President John F. Kennedy  will be on hand to throw out the first ball.
