defeated the awful New York Mets 7 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

The winning pitcher was Marichal(20-7) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Al
Jackson(12-10) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks
in 5 innings.
