1962 NL Games: Chi. @ Hou. and NY @ St. Louis

April 11, 1962

Included in today's slate of games in the NL the Houston Colt .45s got their 1st franchise victory in a marathon game against the Chicago Cubs. The other new team in the NL, the New York Mets, got a Win in their 1st game of the season.
It took 16 1/2 innings of scoreless play but the Houston Colts finally plated a run in the bottom of the 17th for 1-0 victory over the Cubs. The pitchers on both clubs shut down the offenses until 2 singles and a walk resulted in a run for Houston.
The New York Mets got outstanding pitching from Roger Craig and Bob Miller in their 4-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Mets scored 3 runs in the 7th inning for the deciding runs and the Cardinal fans had to go home with an Opening Day loss.
