1962 AL Game: Min. @ NY

June 26, 1962

 Minnesota pitcher Camilo Pascual won his 15th game of the season today while the Twins defeated the New York Yankees 3-1. Pascual's 15-1 record is the best in MLB this season. It was a well pitched game by both teams but Minnesota got a 2-run homer by Lenny Green and a solo shot from Bob Allison to score the runs needed for the victory. Minnesota now has a league best 51-23 record.

Camilo Pascual tossed a complete game as the powerful Minnesota Twins beat the
New York Yankees by a score of 3 to 1.
 
Minnesota came up with 2 runs in the 6th inning.  The key offensive moment was
provided by Lenny Green who quieted the home crowd when he bombed a two-run
dinger.  Both teams totaled 6 hits on the night.  
 
The victory was credited to Pascual(15-1) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Rollie Sheldon(0-7) was the loser.  He allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in 6
and 2/3 innings.

1962 NL Game: St. Louis @ Chi.

June 26, 1962

  Ernie Broglio pitched a beauty of a game today as the St. Louis Cardinals crushed the Chicago Cubs 11-0. Broglio threw 1-hitter with no walks and 6 strikeouts while dominating the Chicago batters. The only blemish on his pitching line was a single by Ernie Banks leading off the 2nd inning. It was the 4th 1-hitter thrown in the NL this season.

Second baseman Julian Javier had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Ernie Broglio
blanked Chicago allowing just 1 hit as the St. Louis Cardinals really laid it
on the Chicago Cubs 11 to 0.
 
Broglio(5-5) was tremendous on the mound for St. Louis.  He gave up just 1 hit
and no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 4.62 to 4.14.  St. Louis
totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The losing pitcher was Dick Ellsworth(3-8).  He got hammered, allowing 6 hits
and 4 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
